Marriage License Expiration
Expiration Date of Marriage License:
A marriage license is valid for a set amount of days. If the marriage does not take place within set amount of days from the date the license was issued, a new license must be issued, and additional fees must be tendered. In most states, the original license must be returned to the Clerk’s office. There is no provision for a refund.
Wedding License Expiration Date:
- 10 days: Oklahoma
- 20 days: South Dakota
- 33 Days: Michigan
- 35 Days: Colorado
- 65 days: Connecticut
- No expiration: District of Columbia, Georgia, Idaho, Mississippi, New Mexico, South Carolina
Marriage Waiting Period after Application:
- 1 day: South Carolina
Marriage Waiting Period after Receiving Marriage License:
You may request a copy of your marriage certificate in person, online or by mail.
