Here's what you need to know and what documents to bring with you before you apply for a marriage license application in Adams County. We recommend getting this legal aspect of your wedding out of the way about a month before your marriage ceremony date.
It is important that you verify all information with the Adams County Clerk of Courts office before making any wedding or travel plans.

Applicants may apply in any county within Pennsylvania. Application does not need to be made in county of residence or where ceremony is to be performed. Contact the county where you plan to apply.
Applicants may apply only between 8:00a.m. and 4:00p.m., Monday through Friday except holidays. All applicants must be 18 years of age to obtain a marriage license without custodial parent's or legal guardian's consent. Applicants between 16 - 18 years of age must have a custodial parent present to consent to the marriage application. Consenting parent must have proper identification. Pennsylvania does not require premarital blood testing or physical examinations. Applicants under 16 years of age must have both written Court approval and written approval of the custodial parent.
Application must be made within 60 days of the wedding date. Marriage license are valid for 60 days from the date of issuance and may be used anywhere in PA. PA law requires a minimum 3 day waiting period after application is made before a license can be issued.
Persons related by blood as first cousins or closer may not marry in PA. Other prohibitions and policies are available in the Clerk of Courts office.
Applicants who have previously married MUST HAVE:
Marriage license application is $ 60.00 payable by cash or check and includes a certified copy of the license. Please note there is a $ 26.50 return check fee if the bank returns the check for any reason. Certification will be automatically mailed within approximately 30 days of receipt of marriage license return. Marriage license fees and hours vary from county to county. Please call the county in which you intend on applying for more information.
Waiver of three (3) day waiting period is $ 5.00 (not included in $ 60.00).
Anyone wishing to marry outside Pennsylvania must contact that state, territory, country, etc. directly. Legal requirements of that jurisdiction apply.
